This isn’t about who has the biggest budget, the most expensive equipment, or the biggest rack. It’s about putting in the work, respecting the hunt, and celebrating success together.

Our scoring system gives every Average Joe a legitimate chance to compete by rewarding the complete buck — and the story behind the hunt.

Whether you’re chasing your first buck or have been hunting deer for decades, this contest is for you.

What Makes This Contest Different

The Hunting RX Average Joe Deer Contest is designed to recognize more than just antler size.

Your score combines four completely different characteristics:

Points = structure

Longest Tine = tine development

Antler Base Circumference = antler mass

Then, Bonus Points reward the Average Joe story — because this contest isn’t simply about who shot the biggest rack.

How to Enter

Be entered in the contest before harvesting your deer

Harvest your deer legally and ethically

Take a clear photo of you with your harvested deer

Submit your harvest according to the official Hunting RX entry instructions

Once submitted, your entry will be reviewed and scored according to the Hunting RX Average Joe Buck Score.

Longest Tine — inches

Combined Antler Base Circumference — inches

Bonus Points

🦌 Antler Base Circumference

Measure the circumference of each antler at its base immediately above the burr/pedicle, then add the two measurements together.

Example:

Left antler base: 5⅜”

Right antler base: 5⅝”

Combined antler base circumference: 11”

That equals 11 points toward your Average Joe Score.

🔥 Example Score

A 10-point buck:

10 points = Buck Points

8⅝ = Longest Tine

11 = Combined Antler Base Circumference

5 = Bow Bonus

5 = Public-Land Bonus

10 = Video Footage Bonus

5 = Hunting RX Product/Swag Bonus

🏆 FINAL SCORE = 54.625

🏹 Bow Bonus — +5

Harvest your buck with a bow and earn +5 points.

🌲 Public-Land Bonus — +5

Harvest your buck on public land and earn +5 points.

🎥 Video Footage Bonus — +10

Submit qualifying video footage from your hunt/harvest and earn +10 points.

We want to see the story behind the deer — the hunt, the preparation, the excitement, and the moment it all comes together.

🧢 Hunting RX Product or Swag — +5

Hunt wearing or using Hunting RX products or swag and earn +5 points.

Represent the Home of the Average Joe in the field and show us you’re part of the family.

Rules & Fair Chase Policy

To keep the competition fair and honorable:

All participants must be entered in the contest before any deer is harvested

All deer must be wild, fair chase, and legally harvested

All local and state hunting regulations must be followed

Any form of cheating, falsification, or misrepresentation will result in immediate disqualification

Measurements and scoring must follow the official Hunting RX Average Joe scoring guidelines

Bonus points must be supported by appropriate photo or video evidence when requested

Hunting RX reserves the right to verify entries and request additional photographs, video, or information when necessary

By entering, participants grant Hunting RX permission to share submitted photos, videos, and stories for promotional and community purposes

Above all else, this contest exists to celebrate the hunt and the hunters who do it right.
